Haroun Omar

Haroun Omar has been at the forefront of a powerful new movement that has risen from the decaying quality of today’s pop-infused electronic scene; a movement that strives for forward-thinking, intelligent, dance music. Coming from Denver, an area rich with upcoming DJs, Haroun quickly separated himself from the DJ crowd with his patient mixing, smooth sequencing, and driving energy. Rather than a playing a “quick-fix” style of music, his performances are highlighted by deeper moments and eclectic journeys into memorable sounds. Haroun’s talent was quickly discovered locally and he was asked to play his first performance at the legendary Beta Nightclub in Denver, Colorado. A fantastic welcoming set for Cosmic Gate saw Haroun gain both domestic and international interest for his unique mixing and diverse track selection. His DJ sets have since been in huge demand and have been featured on every major internet radio station, including an Artist of The Week spotlight on FriskyRadio. With an impressive array of solo productions and worldwide collaborations, Haroun has just begun to leave his footprint in this new wave of quality, underground dance music. With releases on Deepsessions Records, Mistique Digital, Distants Records and support from the legendary Markus Schulz, Gai Barone, and Airwave, Haroun is ready to set the scene ablaze with even bigger releases in 2012.

Josh Wetherington

Newly transplanted after a decade in the Miami DJ scene, Josh Wetherington is quickly putting down roots here in the Denver dance music community. A wizard in both the studio and behind the decks, he has been a longtime staple in the Miami/South Florida DJ culture hosting The Positive Progression Sessions radio show for over eight years running on Owl Radio and was even featured in an episode of the Learning Channel’s Miami Ink. Being recognized on an international level for both his production and DJ skills, he was chosen as the 2009 Ultra Music Festival DJ/Producer Spotlight Contest winner and has been on a success streak ever since. After releasing dozens of tracks on labels such as Nervine Records, Biatch Corp Recordings, Let’s Beat Milo Records, and Modern Beat Digital, Josh finally released his first full length artist album entitled Dawn Breaks The Ego in July 2010 on longtime supporter Sheeva Records. Whether he’s rocking the decks at Ultrafest in Miami or getting down and dirty underground and after hours at clubs like Asylum Honolulu, Josh always delivers a set straight from the heart, soul, and sweat that is true dance music. With uniquely reengineered edits and cleverly layered acapellas and melodies, his sets are as dance floor pleasing as they are unpredictable.

Aggressor

Goce Velkovski, also known by his codename Aggressor is a young Macedonian DJ/Producer. He was born on 24th September, 1986 in Skopje, Macedonia. During the mid-90's he was obsessed by the sounds of the electronic music, when it all sounded like goa trance and techno in his mind. As he was growing up he established a deeper connection with electronic music which inspired him to do choose a new path in his life. Being just a regular consumer of the electronic sounds didn't satisfy his ambitions of widening his knowledge about this type of music. In order to express his passion and feelings he started writing songs. The year 2003 was a crucial year for Aggressor, because that was a great beginning. The same year he was introduced to the recording techniques and using the producing software/hardware. It was a like a "renaissance" period for him, because he learned so many new things. A time of inspirations, happy and sad moments were coming and disappearing like three leaves. For the first time in his life, on August 10th, 2010, he released his first duo project "South Beach" with Ivan Nikusev for the label Mistique Music, and the same year on September 15th, he released his first solo project "AMYA (A Million Years Ago)" for the sub-label Mistique Digital. Many other EPs like "Divine Forces" and "Mind Overheat" came later that period, which were to be released by the Mistique family labels. Nowadays he is more active and developed into a more serious producer, he cooperates with many artists/producers and almost every day he writes something new inspired by the real life events. Aggressor has also remixed a lot of projects for different labels & artists.

Sang Dinh

Sang Dinh was born and raised in Denver, CO. He found interest in the local music scene in 2003, expanded his horizons and began his pursuit of DJing. Since his introduction to the scene, Sang played at many local events; from there he gained the experience and vision to kick off his future interests. Maya Amack

Hailing from New York City, Maya comes from a very diverse musical family. She has been playing music and singing from an early age, and began DJing in 2000. In the early days, she played a lot of progressive and deep house and was heavily influenced by the Tyrant sound of Craig Richards and Lee Burridge. These days, she plays an eclectic blend of deep, trippy house and techno that gets into your brain and under your skin, whether you are having an afternoon cocktail or you are losing your mind on a late-night dance floor with 1000 of your friends. Her success playing out procured her co-hosting responsibilities on "Bonus Beats" on Proton Radio, and also regular guest mixes on "B-sides", a music program involving the mood of a set along with the knowledge of sound. She eventually started her own show on Proton Radio, called Mindfunk, which was a vehicle to showcase an eclectic variety of genres. After several years of playing all over Florida, she began to extend her reaches to other cities. She moved to New York in 2003 and continued playing there at parties such as the infamous weekly Robots parties and Blue Sky Thursdays. In 2007, she relocated to Denver, where she has been happily contributing ever since. She can be heard at some regular spots around town such as Beta and the Funky Buddha, but her favorite place to play is up in the mountains during the early morning hours. She also throws the occasional underground techno party with her new crew, 5270.

Christopher James

Christopher James is synonymous with the sound and the journey that his fans have come to expect from him. Intertwining tech, electronica, deep house & progressive, his sets are filled with moments of reflection as well as an uncontrollable urge to get up and dance all night. Drawn to the deeper, darker side of EDM there always remains a beacon of light at the end of the tunnel he creates. After growing up in Southern California, Chris was drawn to DJ’s such as Sasha & Digweed, Quivver, James Holden & Nick Warren. And over the next few years Chris developed a lasting interest in house, techno & progressive and began to fine tune his sound and identity. Through a maze of basslines, layered stabs, pads and twisted vocals his sets take you deep while blending them with an infectious groove that keeps the journey forever moving and upbeat. Easily recognized behind the decks, Chris’ signature head shake and non stop bouncing will always give him away. (Cue the image of a bobble head toy on your car dashboard) Whether he is warming the crowd up, headlining the night or taking everyone down into the early hours of the morning make no mistake… a journey is what you are in for. In 2010-2011 Chris performed in cities around the country including: Los Angeles, San Francisco, Denver, Miami, Orlando, San Antonio & Austin to name a few. And in 2012 Chris has decided to call Miami Beach his new home. Forever moving forward and looking to the future, Christopher James is sure to be a name to follow in the months and years to come!

Jens Irish

Jens Irish, for the past seven years, has quietly established himself as a name to be reckoned with in the Denver Colorado underground music scene. With his sets primarily known for developing a sustained, intimate connection with the audience through the slow buildup of hypnotic, moody elements and a focus on melodic interaction, Jens' fundamental motivation is to impart upon the crowd a coherent, systematic journey into sound that plays itself out over the entire performance. In 2009, Jens was inducted into the P.U.N.C.H.I.S. collective, a group of passionate Denver DJs, producers, and music enthusiasts, founded with the intention of creating wholly unique, forward-thinking dance parties, and motivated by an obsession for the latest in cutting edge, underground electronic music. With their weekly party in the Beatport Lounge at Beta, P.U.N.C.H.I.S. now stands as an increasingly established voice in the national dance movement. In late 2010, Jens became an official member of Electronic Music Bears (EMB), an electronic genre-spanning event promoter and music podcast series (with 20,000+ subscribers), spearheaded by the multi-talented DJ/producer Dabecy (Darren Cutlip), and based out of San Francisco, with Nonym (Ant Carrington) running the UK division. Over the years, Jens' sound has steadily continued to evolve. Injecting his unique spirit and personality into every note, transition and programming decision, he tells a story with each set...and definitely one that's best experienced live.

JuStar

JuStar(n.): An individual 'DJ' of Semitic heritage who thinks he is much more clever than he actually is. Josh Reff, better known as JuStar, has been an avid consumer of electronic music for as long as he can remember. It all started with the basics: Daft Punk, Paul Van Dyk, Paul Oakenfold, Tiesto; pretty much anything popular enough to find its way to limewire. It wasn't until high school that he discovered MixRiot and his tastes evolved into what they are today. Since moving to Colorado in 2009, JuStar has had the pleasure of playing a handful of underground and local events, including being featured at the Beatport Lounge in Denver for a special event hosted by Mixriot. Marked by his signature underground vinyl selection and his unmistakeably soulful transitions, JuStar is one DJ you cannot miss!

ABOUT FRISKY LOVES DENVER

The Concept: Pick a region, usually a country, and showcase its electronic dance music to the world. The hand-picked DJs from the friskyRadio robots are sure to paint a unique picture of whats hot in that part of the world.

The Show: friskyRadio Loves...

The History: It all began with Argentina. Back in 2005, we had an idea: Why not do a show solely on Argentina, where some of the most passionate friskyRadio DJs and fans come from. Indeed, the first friskyRadio Loves Argentina wasnt even called "friskyRadio Loves Argentina," for even we didnt know what a unique concept and show we were pioneering. At the time, there was simply nothing like it anywhere: not on Internet Radio, not in FM radio. Like so many things on friskyRadio - we were the first to bring the 'Country/Region' showcase concept to the world. Since then have visited well over 30 countries or regions, from Russia to Finland, from Holland to DENVER and everything in between.
